Surya Malla was the King of the Khas Malla Kingdom in 1366 A.D. He became the King of the Khas Malla Kingdom after the death of Prithvi Malla. He was provided the Title of Maharajdhiraja.

His reign was filled with rebellion and division of the Khas Malla Kingdom. Surya Malla was a religious King and worked continuously to keep and maintain Unity and Integrate the Khas Malla Kingdom.

Reign of Surya Malla

Surya Malla ascended to the throne amidst several challenges from other courtiers. He was the successor of Prithvi Malla. However, Surya Malla failed to act in the footsteps of Prithvi Malla who had expanded the Khas Malla Empire and established Political Stability.

Although it cannot be denied that Surya tried to maintain the Khas Empire, he also failed to do so. He sent his son, Abhay Malla, to Dumrikot in Bajhang to maintain his strength in that Region.

There, Abhaya Malla gave land during the princely period to sustain the Khas Malla Kingdom. Because of Abhaya Malla’s military Activism, Doti was captured again.

Conclusion

Surya Malla was the Second Last Prominent Khas Malla King of the Khas Empire. After his reign, the Khas Malla Kingdom began collapsing.
