Lichhavi King

Introduction to Ganadeva Second

King Ganadeva Second was a king of the Lichhavi Dynasty with very little to be known. Moreover, his Existence has been debated among Historians as a resemblance of name with Ganadeva First.

He was first mentioned in a Short Inscription written in Patan Gabhahal Jaladroni. According to this record, He was a king who lived before the beginning of the Nepal Samvat after Jayadeva Second.

The record refers to him as “Sri Ganadeva,” indicating that he was a king of that period. After the name, though, not much is described or attributed to Ganadeva.

Reign of Ganadeva Second

Because of the Lack of Concrete Information and dependable records, the True Identity of the reign of King Ganadeva Second has been disputed upon by Large Scores of Nepalese Historians.

Others have suggested based on this Inscription that he may have been a later king who ruled after Ganadeva First.

Conclusion

King Ganadeva Second, contrary to King Ganadeva First, ruled during the latter half of the Lichhavi Dynasty.

However, because of the lack of sources such as Inscriptions, Geneologies and Oral Traditions, the Reign of King Ganadeva Second is limited to his Inscriptions.
